"Parisian Waitress"

This painting was done from a photo on a terrific website called "A Day Not Wasted". The photographer, Lee Brown graciously posts one of his photos each month as a challenge to artists. This young lady was posted way back in September. So you can see i am not ever going to be a "Daily Painter" let alone a monthly one. But i loved the expression on this young lady and wanted to try and capture it. She seemed to be daydreaming of far away lands not waiting on tables.

I got half way through and left her leaning against the gallery wall for a couple of months as i was not sure where to take her. But after a while realized she was almost done and needed only a few more little tweeks here and there. Would love to try this one again with different colors and a different mood. She is 15" X 30", all watercolor on Arches 300lb. CP paper.

    1. Thanks so much Pat. I am happy to see you come by. Yes, there seems to be a story there. I think that is what appealed to me the most with this young lady. She is day dreaming or perhaps she sees her beau outside on the street corner. He's waiting for her to get off work
so they can enjoy one another and the ambience of Paris at night. Lovely.

    1. Thanks so much Barbra. Yes, it is good to be painting. I have been so busy with work, work lately there has not been time for art. But this young lady kept my attention long enough to finish her. She already has a new home to go to as well! A lady came to the gallery, saw her and decided she wanted to buy her. I almost do not want to part with this one and have
considered keeping her. Maybe i will have to paint another. Now i shall go and see what you have been painting. See you soon!

    1. Padmaja, what a great comment! I too am wishing for her daydream to come true. She seems to be a special young lady whom i have never met. I hope she is happy and safe wherever she may be. Perhaps waiting on tables this very moment.
