I thought it was time to do another cow painting. I love doing these guys. When i first started painting full-time I painted a cow and many more after that. So many in fact i became the "Cow Guy". Not really what i wanted to be so began painting boats, villages, people, anything but cows. Alas they kept a calling and i could not resist their charm, their curiosity, and their beauty. There is something about these creatures that is most endearing. And they give us so much i feel i can honour one or two with a painting.
This beauty belongs to a lady in Holland who graciously shares the photos she has of her herd. I am deeply indebted to her for her generosity in doing so.
Gigi is approximately 13" X 18" unframed and is transparent watercolor on Arches 300lb. CP paper.
Thanks for sharing your gift with us two days in row. I love the colours on Gigi's head/hair!
ReplyDeleteThanks Renee for dropping by. I appreciate the comments. Yes, i did have fun with the colors on this one. I wanted to do her mainly red with the green background. I have a purple one i can post soon.
ReplyDeleteWow! The character you've captured, Ross, its outstanding. You've made me feel I could almost talk to Gigi - what a great artist you are! xx
ReplyDeletePat you are so great. I feel like painting now. Smile! I hope to capture some of their personality. It's in the eyes. I love doing them and look for images that have great eyes.
DeleteYou made my day. Thanks so much Pat.....
Gigi is wonderful, Ross. I am a fan of your cows as well as of your villages. This is super!
ReplyDeleteHi Christiane. So nice to see you here. I have not been very diligent with my posting and painting as life and work are getting in the way. But there are a few hours saved for studio time and Gigi came to life. Hope all is well there in your world and you are happily painting and showing. I must go visit your blog and see what you are up to. Thanks for visiting Christiane.
