"The Girls"

 I have been working on quite a few of these all 12X12 on Gallery wrapped canvas.
They're such fun to do. I see these smaller ones as work studies for larger paintings.
My plan for the New Year is to get going on some 4 or 5 foot canvases
using these as my models.
I am so grateful for several photographers on Flickr who
graciously let me use their photos. I do have some photos i take on my own
but find all manner of interesting shots by much better photographers than myself.
They also get quite a kick out of seeing what i have done with their
beautiful work.
Hope all are doing well and these girls made you smile.
Oh their names are, Bossco, Grey Beard, Rosy and "Pick Me!"
Adios!

  1. OMG, fantastic Ross! I can almost smell her breath. Good luck hanging onto any of these long enough to use them for studies! I guess you can always use a photocopy.....

    1. Thank you Gena. I have sold quite a few of these smaller cow paintings. People like them and enjoy the humour. Ive not ever painted anything larger than 24 X 30 so a big canvas will be fun and exciting. Cant wait! thanks for stopping by!

    2. Hi Ross,
      I came by to thank you for your so-wonderful comments on the dogs' paintings. And I saw your "Girls" again, and smiled - they are all so beautiful, with such character! Thank you for the joy this morning :)

  4. Your use of light in each one is fabulous! My favourite is the first one though, the colours and the perspective are delightful! I can just imagine what she is thinking, she seems to have quite a story! I hope there are many moooore!

  5. Thanks Renee! I try to capture the light and do especially like how it worked out in the first one. The second one i tried something different with a transparent blue wash over the entire painting then going back in with the whites to see if they would pop more. I may try it again but go darker in areas which of course makes those light areas just shine. Thanks for popping by! There will be many mooooore! :)
