"Luna"

A new cow painting.
This is not the usual composition for me as i most often do the
portrait with just head and shoulders..
I really like the outcome and will do more from further out and perhaps with herds or multiples.
Just can't stop painting these guys.
They make me smile.
This is acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. 12' X 12". And she's sold! :)

  1. Love it Ross!... Funny thing I just thought of you as I saw a photo of a black cow that I might attempt and right away thought 'cows? .... Ross' ...
I see your doing real well with the acrylics..

    1. Thanks Barbra. By all means, give the cow a try! They are fun to paint and i am learning so much about acrylics doing them. My plan is to move onto landscapes and such once i get comfortable with all the special nuances they provide. After watercolour for so many years it takes a bit of getting used to. Hope all is well there with you. Thanks for visiting!

  3. OMG Ross, just love Luna SO much. Your cows make me smile too....I dare anyone NOT to smile when they see your "girls". The background is also beautiful...so full of colour and light. Wow.

    1. Thank you Gena! I really appreciate your comments! I've been having fun with the backgrounds lately and looking at them as another painting within a painting. I used to just keep them pretty simple but am enjoying this new approach a lot. It really does make the painting a lot more interesting i think. And smile too! That is my hope. :)
