"Looe"

Wow!  It has been a very long while since last i posted. I had not painted all summer! :(  June to Oct. to be exact, having too much "paying" work to tend to. Now there is some free time available and i hope to be posting more.

This is a commission based on a previous painting called "Mevagissy". The folks liked it but wanted something bigger. I was excited to do it as it got me back to the studio to brush off the cobwebs.
After a long hiatus like this it is like learning all over again.

Watercolour on 300lb. Arches cold pressed paper. 12.5" X 28".

    1. Hello Renee Dowling. Thanks so much for visiting and for your kind comments. I was fearful no one would drop by it has been so long. :) I do hope to be posting more soon. It was such fun to get back into the studio. Now i must get over to your own site and see what you have been up to. Cheers!

  2. Hello again Ross!

Lovely painting to return with - and one that sparked memories of our first dog Spot and the holiday we had in Looe. The car park attendant wanted to buy her from us, because she was the only dog he'd met who frightened the seagulls :) They were big!

Looking forward to a winter of seeing you paint :) xx

    1. So nice to see you here Pat. I feel bad for being gone so long and struggled to re-start. Yikes! Hope not to quit but the thought was certainly there. I'm so glad the painting triggered fond memories for you. I have to admit though the painting is very loosely based on Looe. I begin with the photograph but then doodling takes over and we end up with something not really looking like the beginning place at all! Hope that is okay. I love the coastal villages in England and would very much enjoy visiting them one day. Hope you did not sell your puppy to the car park attendant. :)

  4. Hello there Elizabeth Seaver. I am so glad to see your name here. It has been too long since last i blogged and must pay a visit to your own blog to see what you have been up to. I very much enjoy your paintings and the different techniques you use. I'm just a boring old traditional painter who longs to paint more freely employing a variety of devices. So there you go. You inspire me! :)
This painting was requested by a patron of the gallery who saw a similar one i did. They wanted "bigger" so this is bigger. But now the patron is nowhere to be found. :) That's okay as it will end up in the next show.

  5. I've got to thank you for becoming one of my early followers. I let months go by without painting, or a painting takes me months to finish. Therefore, I do not post often. Must confess, I've only completed two paintings this year. Always thinking of art and following the blogs of others though, so we'll always come back to painting and blogging. Now, there's probably no stopping you!

For some reason, I am not able to see your latest dog painting on my monitor.. I can imagine it to be a great portrait.
