"Our Town II"

Wahoo! This one fought me tooth and nail. Sometimes they can be a wee bit unruly but perseverance pays off in the end. So often i wanted to quit and start over again. I had an idea for this one which wasn't quite working. The values were all wonky with background things being too warm and pushing forward etc. After much adjusting i think it works okay. This is our great city of Calgary with a little whimsy thrown in. Watercolor on 300 lb. Arches CP paper. 22" X 30".

    1. Thanks for your encouraging words Christiane. One never knows after staring at a piece for so long. This one i kept putting away, giving up, picking it up, putting it away, and well, you know the routine. One especially frustrating moment, the art gallery owner walked by and pointed out the value deficiencies. I was most grateful as she saw it through fresh eyes. Sometimes that can be the difference. Thanks for your visit. It is always so nice to see you here..

  2. It is a remarkable piece Ross, I kept studying it for a long time.. what kind of great details have gone in to it that need an epitome of patience:-)

  3. Padmaja, how nice of you to drop by. You are so right about the patience part of which i have a limited supply. :) :) There were many times i was sorry to have begun such a detailed piece and wished so badly i were a loose painter. I greatly admire a work of art that is loose and free flowing. It has not ever been my strength though unfortunately. Sigh! We are so lucky to have so many different kinds of art forms. Such a rich world we live in. Blessings to you.

    1. Hello Gena! Thank you for your visit and for your encouraging words. It means a lot and sure has me wanting to hit the old drawing board as it were. The design/drawing side of things is what i enjoy so much. Laying paint on is just a necessity then. :) :)
Sadly i will not be heading out to Kamloops this year. I had decided not to go but now that the date is drawing nearer i am having regrets as it is always such a good time. Hope you have a successful time there with many new sales. Perhaps next year i can have a booth too! Safe travel!
