"Best Friends"

A young lady i used to work with asked me to paint these two,
for one of her relatives for Christmas.
I had a difficult time with it at first as is often the case with commissions.
But yesterday it started to take on the life i always look for.
The results are very pleasing to me.

I was going to call it "Best Friends Forever" but as you know
the likelihood of these cuties being around still are slim.
This is why i like to paint cows.
They give us so much and are only here for a short while.
I can honour them in a painting and love doing so.
Acrylic on canvas, 22 X 28.
Sold.

  1. Hi there Ross!... Your exquisite composition enjoins the two creatures and your choice of almost complementary colors heightens that physical and visual connection.

Few of us seldom look beyond the packaging... or what's on our plates. That we should leave such an impact as to warrant being mentioned as you have and to be painted with such feeling.

    Bravo!

Merry Christmas... from our home and family... to yours!

    Good painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  8. Adorable! The painting reminds me of a photo I took of twin calves kissing each other... actually one is licking the other after being bottle fed, but it looks like they are kissing!

I certain the lady was very happy with her painted calves!

Sorry, I kept catching spelling errors, so I deleted my previous comments. Good grief!

Best wishes to you in the new year. I hope it is filled with lots of love, great health, happiness and of course, a lot of art!

  9. They are just wonderful Ross! It's wonderful when right before our eyes a painting becomes itself and pleases us! And what a nice gesture for the cows.

Thank you for your very kind comment on Jackson and you comforting words. The journey continues! Take good care and Happy New Year!
