A watercolour commission for a young lady who loves the ocean and Orcas.
She had a photo from a sailing trip she wanted to turn into a painting.
This is the result of it.
I am not accustomed to landscapes having spent most of my time doing animals and whimsical villages but was pleased she asked me to do this for her.
I hope the outcome is what she had envisioned.
11"X29" on Arches C/P paper.
No doubt she will love it !!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara. I am still waiting to hear back from her.
DeleteShe will love it, Ross. I felt the same when I painted the two tugboat paintings - it does get easier. :)
ReplyDeleteKathryn
I hope so! I will have to see if i can find your tug boat paintings on your blog Kathryn. Thanks for the encouragement.
DeleteI'm sure the lady will be thrilled, this is stunning ! What a fantastic piece of peaceful art with a marvelous light !
ReplyDeleteJane I really appreciate your comment. Thank you!
DeleteYou may not be accustomed to landscapes but this is so typical a scene and really stunning
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it Polly. It was quite a lot of fun to do. This one sat on my desk for months as i was unsure how to approach it. Once the brush hit the paper the fear started to evaporate.
DeleteSaw you had a new post...this painting took me by surprise when I opened it as it is not your usual...know how you feel about painting landscapes, but in reality this is more of a seascape with animals...and I like the format and color scheme.
ReplyDeleteWhat is there not to be pleased about?
ReplyDeleteMy family and I were at the Calgary Stampede and I was so excited to see your art in the exhibition building! I said, "Hey, there is Ross Lynem's cows! I follow his blog!" You were not there to say hi too, but what great fun to see your colour work in person!
