This was painted from a photo i took in Vancouver last spring of a crafty old raven. I love watching these birds and trying to capture interesting perspectives of them. I've had great luck around the big old garbage bins and along the beaches as they are quite the scavengers. This is a little different too as opposed to my more whimsical paintings. I used gouache watercolor and ink on Arches cold pressed paper.
It is different from your usual - but stunning just the same.
ReplyDeletePut me in mind of Edgar Allen Poe straight off !
Thanks Pat. I never thought of Edgar Allen Poe but yes, now that you mention it he did do something about crows. I know my wife loves that about him and is a big fan. Will have to look for that now. Hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteYes, a departure from your usual style and themes, but very nice. The colors on the tree and on the bird's wing are absolutely beautiful! Really well done, Ross.
ReplyDeleteYour trying out new avenues is inspiring and this has come out so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love Cherry Blossoms and Meena. You have such a sense of whimsy and color that I love, Ross!
ReplyDeleteHi Ross, like this painting havent; seen much from you lately.. We all lapse into that state once in a while or else. working on a big deal!
ReplyDeleteThought of you yesterday as I had a problem with Angie and had to take her to the vet. I suspect that this is the first in a long line of issues, she is now 16, and although this was fixable with antibiotics, (bladder infection) we know the inevitable will come much sooner than later. I was trying to prepare myself but you know how hard that is .. I have her posted on my :Journey blog". BJ
