We are having a Canada show at the gallery to coincide with the Olympics in Sochi.
25 artists are coming up with paintings they feel represents what Canada is to them.
So many things came to mind but i kept coming back to hockey.
This is a scene of kids playing pond hockey which probably happens in most small villages and towns all across this great land
on any given night throughout the winter.
I based this wee village on Trinity Newfoundland.

DeleteWhat a fun and colourful painting Ross, good luck with the show
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorraine. The show will be fun I'm sure. Everyone is dressing up in costume. :)
DeleteIt is so great to see one of your playful, colourful villages again! I enjoy them so much! You have a special talent for guiding your viewers' eyes into your scenes! I hope we all can see the others paintings in the show! Congratulations, Ross.
ReplyDeleteThank you Renee. It had been a long time since i painted a village and i felt it time once again. I realized while doing it i love these little places best. I've another one for the show i can post too. Also i will take photos of the show and put them up so you can see what others have done. :)
DeleteCan't wait!
DeleteThe more I look, the more I see. Lovely to see one of your 'Ross Scenes' again.
ReplyDeleteThank you Polly for your visit. I do get lost in these and have such fun putting them together. It becomes a world if it's own. :)
DeleteRoss, it is perfect!!! Hockey really is Canada. Your painting is so warm and bright and full of activity - LOVE it! It is like a contemporary-style Krieghoff.
ReplyDeleteKathryn how nice to see you here. Yes, i do agree Canada is hockey or vice versa. We have other things too of course but for me it was this. I love the Quebec artists take on landscapes and village scenes and sort of borrow my whimsical approach from them. Now i shall look up Krieghoff to see what he/she does. Thanks Kathryn. :)
DeleteRoss, it is beautiful! I love all your whimsical villages.
ReplyDeleteChristiane my blogger buddy, how are you? It was a delight to see you here. I'm so glad you like it. It does take us a while to figure out what we would like to do as artists doesn't it? I am beginning to believe the villages will always be close to my heart as well as the dogs. I will visit your blog to see what you've been up to! :0
