"Reading Week"

I thought it might be time for another village. These are such fun to do. I've been very busy with commissions lately and had spent a great deal of time on cow and barnyard paintings forgetting about the whimsical side of things. There is a freedom when it is all made up which does not exist while making a picture for someone. Rather refreshing i think and a bit of a breather. Watercolor on Arches 300lb. Cold pressed paper. Approximately 11" X 30".

  1. I love the fun and the format of the painting, Ross. We had 36 C yesterday, and it is really good to see this winter scene. [Ask me again in the middle of winter!] :)

    1. Hi Kathryn. :) I had not thought about the cooling effects. Perhaps that is what i was thinking while painting. But a friend gave me an idea to paint the same scenes in different seasons! I think i might just have to try that. A summer one in the throws of winter when i need to be reminded what it is like to be warm once again. Thanks for visiting.

  2. The snow painting is indeed very refreshing on a hot day like today:-) I love these whimsical villages of yours, Ross - each one is a little world of fun and colour.

    1. Hello Chrisitiane. So nice to see you pop by as i value your comments greatly. I had drifted away from the whimsical watercolour villages but it felt oh so good to get back to them again. I suppose that will always be my refresher. Even on a hot summer day! Hope you are doing well and enjoying your summer.
