This is a new version of Pequito. I did not think the bedroom was quite in line with the pup on the first version. Sorry Vincent but i had to take some liberties with your beautiful work and jam up the colours a wee bit. I'm feeling much better about it now as there is a unity that was lacking in version 1.
Oh, but acrylic is just so much fun.
Ross, I really like the more saturated colors. Great job...and I am sure that Vincent would approve:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christiane. It was a great exercise to do this as i learned so much about what Vincent might have done and how he did it. I did the dog last and found, once done, the background needed to be changed as the dog and background were not in sync with one another. Lots of fun though.
DeletePERFECT ROSS, SIMPLY PERFECT!! i love anything pug but this is incredible!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne. Your paintings are down right incredible so i take this as a real compliment. I actually do not know why i prolonged the acrylics. Love oils too. It is nice to have all at your disposal.
DeleteHi Ross. You are right!!! The jazzed-up version is so much better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathryn. I am very satisfied with this now.
DeleteI love this painting Ross. It is whimsical as well as a great portrait of man's best friend. I'm sure Vincent would be happy with your color tweaks.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy. I've been in a wee slump since finishing this. Must get another canvas and get out the acrylics again. Doing Pequito was enlghtening for me as i had avoided acrylics till now. Hope you are having a wonderful painting day.
DeleteHi there Ross!... Vincent wouldn't give a hoot about the "borrowing"... as a matter of fact, he most likely have been extremely pleased that anyone even cared to imitate his (unsold) oeuvre! HA HA!!
ReplyDeleteA jaunty... colourful treatment of his bedroom setting and the placement of the pug works really well! He commands immediate attention and only then does your eye become aware of Vincent well known and loved handiwork! A gem!
Good Painting!
Warmest reagrds,
Bruce
