"Alexis & Ivan"

One more puppy before Christmas.
This is a commission 12" X 14". Watercolour on Arches 300lb. CP paper.
It looks like they are having a wonderful time.
I love the Boxer because they enjoy so much
being with their people and playing.
They actually think they are human.
We won't tell them otherwise. :)
Shhhh!!

  1. The first thing I noticed about this painting was the feeling of unbridled joy. I can feel the pup's happiness as he is bounding along next to his young charge. Beautiful painting, Ross.

    1. Pat, your comment brought a wee tear to me eye."Unbridled Joy" is such a great term and most effectively describes the moment these two were having. I'm so glad i was able to portray that and you confirmed it for me! Hooray! :)

  3. What a beautiful painting, Ross - so full of life and joy!
My sister has had three Boxers, and I have spent much time with them. They truly are a loving, happy dog!!!
I wish you and your family {four-legged ones too, of course} a wonderful and joyous Christmas!

    1. What a cool surprise! BG! Is that Brian Gauld? Must be! What a delight to come home and find your comment. Yes, it is quite a switch from loading video tape to holding a paint brush. I sometimes think i should get one of those little black books we used to keep in VTR to leave notes for one another about what needed to be done. I find i am not as organized as i once was. Paint a little, surf the net, paint some more, surf the net. Hehe! It's a good life. I always wanted to paint but never knew quite when or how. I do miss the dental plan though. :) If you are ever near the gallery, pop by or drop me a note. It would be grand to have a coffee and visit. Thanks so much for the comment Brian. it made my day.

  6. Lovely! I especially like the running puppy! Good movement is showing with the sand up on the puppies leg.
